The Friends of Canons Park hold a bird-spotting walk in Canons Park on the first Sunday of each month from October to June, inclusive. The walks start at 10 o'clock at the Donnefield Avenue entrance to the park. All are welcome, whether members of the Friends or not, and there is no charge.
Walks last around two hours, and are led by Robin Morden, the chair of Friends of Canons Park, who is also a long-time member of RSPB. See his report on the walk of November 2006 on the separate Birdwalk Report page.
The park is home to a surprising variety of different bird species at different times of the year - one of the most noticeable being the increasingly widespread Ring-necked Parakeet which originates from the foothills of the Himalayas in India. More information on these is on the Parakeets page.
